New Years is my favorite time of year! It’s a time of reflection and introspection. It’s a time to give thanks, as well as a time of hope and promise for all that lies ahead. There’s truly something magical about this time of year. Some of the biggest changes in my life were initiated on New Years: picking up photography as a hobby, deciding to start my business, losing weight, working up the courage to quit a toxic job, etc…
And this year, I’ve decided to honor that long standing tradition and kick perfectionism to the curb by finally launching this site, which has been been making its rounds in my brain for months on end. There were so many mental roadblocks getting in the way, but I’ve decided to give it my best shot. More than anything I want this to be a place where I document our adventures as a family – starting with New Year’s Eve! My in-laws host a big party every year for the family and I decided to dust off my DSLR, white backdrop and studio lights to setup a “Photo Booth” area in their dining room. I took portraits of all the guests. Ironically, there were none of me, the hubby or us a family (#photographerlife), but it still felt amazing to capture this moment in time. Who knows what 2020 will bring, but on this special day we were together….and I have the photos to prove it!
Cheers to new beginnings and a happy New Year from my family yours!
P.S. Although I didn’t get any pictures of me and my boy on the DSLR, I was able to take a few selfies of us together. Thank God for the iPhone otherwise, I’d never exist in photos! They aren’t pro quality, but these are my faves of the night.
