I have been to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ countless times as a kid and now with my own child. The kid-friendly science museum was and continues to be one of my favorite attractions in NJ. But I’ve never experienced it – I mean really experienced it – as an adult and after this week, I can finally cross that off the list! My sister invited me to attend LSC After Dark, which is a monthly party series for the 21 & over crowd with drinks, food, dancing, music and more. And for this particular night, they turned the Liberty Science Center into a 1920’s speakeasy!
Costumes were encouraged, but not required. Before we walked in, I had a moment of panic figuring we would wind up having our own Legally Blonde moment by being the only one’s dressed up, but to my surprise everyone went decked out in beaded dresses, boas, feathers, bowties, suspenders and every other roaring 20’s accessory you can think of.
The food and drinks were great and reasonably priced, the DJ kept spinning the crowd pleasers so you couldn’t help but dance. But my favorite part of the night was the fact that almost all the exhibits were still opened for all to enjoy! Things I enjoyed watching my son experience are now things I’ve enjoyed myself and have a whole new appreciation for! So if you’re still young at heart with an appetite for learning, this is the perfect event for your next mom / parent’s night out!
