After spending long days in quarantine working form home and tending to our son, it’s no surprise that there’s very little time for romance despite having all the “time” in the world! But being connected to your spouse / partner emotionally (and not just physically) is more important than ever before. So although the days are long, we try setting time aside for our relationship to ensure that we remain a strong team through these trying times. If you’re struggling with how to keep the romance alive during quarantine, start by picking one special night each week to be your official “date night”. Plan your day so you can put the kids to bed at a reasonable hour and pick one of the fun ideas below to add some variety and romance back into your lives. Best part: most of them are free!
- Spa Night: Diffuse essential oils, play some relaxing music and treat each other to a massage, facial, pedicure or better yet, all of the above!
- Board Game Night: Dig in the attic for old board games or check out one of the many online options at your disposal.
- Romantic Dinner Night: Treat yourself to an extra special meal – whether your cook it yourself or order from a favorite local restaurant – and enjoy a romantic meal over candlelight.
- Club Night: Turn your lights down, play your favorite dance playlist and get your body moving. Extra points if you have a strobe light/ fog machine for ambiance!
- Wine / Cheese Tasting Night: Grab a few bottles of your favorite wines, along with some fancy cheeses and enjoy an in-home tasting.
- Concert Night: It may be awhile before we can see our favorite artists on tour again, so take advantage of the many concerts streaming online for free!
- Sip & Paint Night: Grab a glass of wine, paint brush and check out one of the many Bob Ross videos available on YouTube and create your own masterpiece.
- Double Date Night: Maybe more “alone time” is not what you need, so invite another couple for a Zoom/ Facetime double date.
- Learning Night: Take advantage of the wide array of online classes currently available and learn something new together!
- Starry, Starry Night: Take your date into the dark night. Grab a cozy blanket and a hot cup of cocoa for a night of stargazing.
- Broadway Night: Check out one of the many Broadway shows available to stream online on BroadwayHD.com.
- Karaoke Night: Give your inner diva a moment to shine and sing your hearts out with the Smule app.
- Movie Night: Pop some fresh popcorn and snuggle up on the couch and stream a new release or an old favorite.
- Arcade Night: Dust off your game console and favorite games to engage in a night of healthy competition with your partner.
- Lounge Night: Whip up a fancy cocktail and stream a playlist with loungey vibes (check out one of my favorite Pandora stations: Beach Bar Lounge Radio on Pandora).
