Like the rest of the world, Covid really put a damper on our travel plans this year. But I was determined to enjoy a change of scenery as safely as possible, as were my sisters and brother. So back in August, we took a siblings road trip with the kids to the Gulf Coast of Florida – Anna Maria Island– for a week of rest, relaxation and quality family time. It was our first time visiting this part of Florida because we usually stay on the East Coast visiting with family in Jacksonville, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. But since we were trying to limit our contact with people due to Covid, we decided to visit a new place, which proved to be spectacular! The beaches were spectacular with the most breathtaking sunsets and there was tons of things to do. Although we didn’t partake in any organized activities (because, again, we were limiting our contact with the outside world), we still had a blast enjoying the pool at our Air BNB, the gorgeous beach just steps from our front door and most importantly, each other’s company. Now that a second wave is fast approaching, I am so thankful that we were able to break up the monotony of quarantine life with a week in paradise!
P.S. I couldn’t wrap up this post without sharing one of my favorite memories from this trip. After taking some pictures, Jonas couldn’t wait any longer and jumped in the water – clothes be damned – surprising us all! It was pure joy watching him enjoy that moment. This is CHILDHOOD!
