Thanks to the stay at home orders for the Coronavirus, I’ve had plenty of time to catchup on some must see TV. I love immersing myself in new worlds without leaving the comfort of my home. And best of all, it’s all in the name of learning! Even if documentaries are not your cup of tea, there’s bound to be one on this list that really speaks to your current mood. And since we now have so much time on our hands – why not? Just be warned: once you start, you may not be able to stop!
- Tiger King (Time Commitment: 5hrs 17 mins): Part documentary, part reality TV, this docuseries is salacious, over-the-top and truly unbelievable. It’s by far the least educational pick of the list and some of the key storylines may seem like more fiction than fact, but boy is it entertaining! Watch Now on: Netflix.
- The Imagineering Story (Time Commitment: 6 hrs 19 mins): This documentary chronicles the history of Walt Disney Imagineering: a group of artists, designers and engineers responsible for bringing the magic of Disney parks to life. The only downfall: you may want to quit your day job after watching this to join the Imagineers! Watch Now on: Disney+.
- OJ: Made in America (Time Commitment: 7hrs 47 mins): If you lived through the OJ Simpson murder trial, you remember how it gripped and divided the nation. But OJ’s journey from superstar athlete to alleged murderer is only the baseline for this spellbinding docuseries, the real story uncovers some complicated truths about race, class and gender in America. Watch Now on: ESPN.
- Wild Wild Country (Time Commitment: 6 hrs 40 mins): This docuseries takes you behind the scenes into a cult and utopian city founded by Indian guru Bhagwan Rajneesh (Osho) in Wasco County, Oregon. With the help of his personal assistant, Ma Anand Sheelsa, it chronicles how his efforts quickly snowballed into confrontations with the locals, attempted murder and bioterrorism. Watch Now on: Netflix
Are you a fan of docuseries? If so, do you have any recommendations for me?
